Fifteen years ago today the protocols behind the world wide web were released for free to the world by CERN, where they were developed under the stewardship of Tim Berners-Lee. Take some time today to think about how the web has changed the world in your lifetime.

You can see the official declaration that sealed the release in the image on the left.

I enjoyed seeing this part of the message - the web shipped without a warranty:

CERN was probably right to absolve themselves of responsibility for what they created - particularly in light of this week’s other technological anniversary: 30 years since the first spam message.
